about

The last twelve months could possibly be the heftiest chapter in the book called these last days and times. From an unprecedented pandemic to the most important Presidential election ever - 2020 has been 366 days of chaos laced uncertainty. As a result, the upcoming festive season will be like no other. Families will be frolicking in bubbles, loved ones will have to stay in contact while keeping two metres between them and the jingle bells may not have their usual knock.

DIE-REK, Kinetik and Sivion defy all social distancing rules, via the Internet, and connect for Empty Spot - a heartfelt seasonal Hip Hop hymn session. Over Soulseize’s tinsel tinged and bauble inspired bounce, the three emcees reflect and rejoice by saving a spot - both at the dinner table and in their hearts - for their friends and family who are no longer here. Utilizing twelve bars of Christmas a piece, this trifecta of rhyme writers cover a range of scenarios from turning a little into a lot, funerals on Zoom, being COVID free and much more. Whilst they carve their respective birds, they keep it real in the feel by celebrating their wins and acknowledging their losses in equal measure.
