about
I don’t really feel like an honest person. We do so much on the outside to cover up the struggles on the inside. I don’t think that’s necessarily being false; it’s what we call being civilized. But ultimately each of us has to stare our true selves coldly in the face. It’s fairly remarkable the number of stories about conflict between brothers in the Bible. Cain and Able. Isaac and Ishmael. Jacob and Esau. Joseph and his brothers. The prodigal and older son. The redeeming element in these stories is that God consciously used both the honest and dishonest alike for great purposes. It is a reminder that in our failure God still finds enduring success.
